How to Find Out Who Your Payroll Provider Is

If you're trying to connect to your payroll provider, but you're not sure who that is — don’t worry! Many applicants aren’t familiar with their payroll provider by name. This guide will walk you through a few simple ways to figure it out.

🔍 What is a Payroll Provider?

A payroll provider is the company your employer uses to process your paychecks, manage direct deposits, and generate pay stubs and tax forms like your W-2. Some common examples include:

  • ADP

  • Paychex

  • Gusto

  • Paycom

  • Workday

  • UKG (Ultimate Kronos Group)

  • Rippling

  • Zenefits

You may have logged into their system to view pay stubs or tax forms in the past.

✅ Steps to Identify Your Payroll Provider

1. Check Your Pay Stub or Direct Deposit Notification

Look for a logo, footer, or mention of a provider name. It’s often on your:

  • Pay stub (PDF or paper copy)

  • Direct deposit email notifications

Look for phrases like:

  • “Powered by ADP”

  • “Processed through Paycom”

  • “View your pay stub at gusto.com”

2. Ask Your HR or Payroll Department

The quickest way to confirm your payroll provider is to contact:

  • Your HR manager

  • The payroll or finance department

They’ll know which system your company uses.

You can send them a quick message like:

“Hi, I’m trying to connect to my payroll provider through Payscore. Can you let me know which platform we use to view pay stubs or W-2s?”

3. Check Past Emails or Employer Portals

Search your email for:

  • “pay stub”

  • “W-2”

  • “ADP”, “Gusto”, “Paycom”, etc.

Also try logging into your employer’s intranet or HR portal — they often link to your payroll provider.

4. Look for a Payroll App You’ve Used

Think about any mobile or desktop apps you’ve used to:

  • View pay history

  • Update direct deposit info

  • Download tax documents

Common apps: ADP Mobile, Paycom, Gusto, UKG Pro, Workday

🔗 Once You Know Your Provider

Once you’ve identified your payroll provider:

  1. Go back to the Payscore verification page.

  2. Search for the provider name in the list.

  3. Log in using the same credentials you normally use.

Need help logging in? Most providers offer a “Forgot password” option during login.
